In chapter 7, Why does Piggy hold the conch during his confrontation with Jack when he tries to retrieve his glasses?

    Jack steals Piggy's glasses in chapter 10. In chapter 11 Piggy tells Ralph that he should do something.  Piggy says he is going to take the conch and confront Jack.  He takes the conch because throughout the novel that has been the symbol of law and order, democracy and justice.  If you held the conch, you were allowed to talk and everyone else had to listen.  Jack and his "tribe" had abandoned the conch and the civilization that is symbolized, but Piggy wouldn't let go of that civilization. He still believed that civilization was the only way to survive.
