   Roger is the boy who eventually dropped the boulder on Piggy, but we don't have any evidence that suggests whether he was ordered to do it or not.  We know that Jack has gone to some lengths to fortify his position at Castle Rock, but we're in the dark about whether he specifically told Roger to man the boulder (or to drop it on Piggy).  In my opinion, the text actually suggests that Roger got so worked up by the atmosphere that he leaned on the lever.  I wouldn't call it an accident, but he may have forgotten what he was doing briefly.
