Why is Simon the only boy who can face the truth about himself and resist the temptation to have fun which allows him to climb the mountain of truth?

I don't understand why Simon is the only one.

    Well, the truth is, he isn't the only one. Simon's grasp on the truth about himself seems less that Piggy's, to name but one alternative. However, the main reason he is the only one is that he seems open to higher truths, even revelations. When he has his visions, he sees the beast as " human at once heroic and sick.” That observation is about the beat, but in seeing it, he is also seeing what is true about humanity on the island. The society that the boys build is both heroic (they are surviving, and doing more than kids should have to do) and sick (they abuse and kill one another).
