What do you know or think about John Glenn orbiting the earth in 1962?

I think it is amazing, and one of humanity's great achievements. Glenn took the Friendship 7 into space in America's first manned mission. He only orbited the earth a few times, but think of what it meant! To be one of only a few men to get above the atmosphere…to see the world from space. Glenn's mission was a major scientific (and political) coup, and one of the stepping stones in the missions to the moon. It showed personal courage on his part, and was the result of many thousands of hours of dedicated research and technological development on the part of NASA.
