Romeo and Juliet

Overture-fantasy by PIOTR ILYICH TCHAIKOVSKY, 1870, after William Shakespeare, first performed in Moscow. This is Tchaikovsky's first important orchestral work. It opens with a CHORALE, which is followed by a series of syncopated passages showing the strife between the two warring houses in Shakespeare's drama.
