does W.S. agree that the worse situations can still improve through correct decisions Posted by allan715 on Jun 1, 2008. |

In my view, Shakespeare's observations are applicable for today. Teen suicide as in Romeo and Juliet ranks high on the leading cause of death list. Accident is #1, mostly motor vehicle crashes, homicide is #2.
Sadly, young people use suicide to solve their problems just like Romeo and Juliet did in Shakespeare's play. Posted by pmiranda2857 on Jun 1, 2008. |

Yes, it is still true in modern times. Teens are on the threshold of adulthood; they still have many lessons to be learned. As one ages, one learns to understand that in the heat of emotion, the best, rational decisions cannot be made. Teenagers, because of their lack of experience with the world and adult emotions, react to situations rather than acting proactively, in many cases. One who acts proactively weighs the pros and cons of their action. In the case of Romeo and Juliet, suicide appeared the only way out. Many modern teens may not necessarily, commit suicide, but turn to alcohol, drugs, and sex to avoid certain troubling situations or to appear as an adult-other poor decisions.
